Supplying High-Quality Post-Consumer Recycled Resin

Through a contract manufacturing relationship with Clean Tech, Inc., TABB™ exclusively supplies high-quality bottle grade HDPE and post-consumer recycled (PCR) PET resin, including food grade PET PCR certified through multiple FDA Letters of No Objection (LNO).

Our strategic alliance with Clean Tech offers extensive capacity that utilizes the latest technology for manufacturing food grade PET PCR.

TABB™ products include high-quality bottle grade PET and HDPE PCR:

  • TPS 2500 – Clear PET pellets
  • TPS 2600 – Green PET pellets
  • TPS 5000 – Natural HDPE pellets
  • TPS 8000 – Mixed color HDPE pellets

Benefits of the TABB™ PCR Process

  • Capacity to process nearly 200 million pounds of HDPE and PET material annually
  • Tight feedstock specifications with minimal contamination permitted for the production of food grade PET PCR
  • Rigid cleaning and washing process, elevating PCR quality
  • Extensive quality testing, including use of gas chromatograph and mass spectrometer to measure potential contaminants and attributes of PET PCR

TABB™ PCR Adds Green Value

Sustainability is priority at TABB™ in its post-consumer recycled products and day to day operations. Value is added with TABB™ PCR which is:

  • Available at a usage rate of up to 100% for recycled content packaging
  • Made from recycled plastic bottles collected from curbside and bottle deposit programs
  • Requires two-thirds less energy to produce packaging made with PCR than from virgin raw materials
  • Reduction in air and water pollution emissions when manufacturing packaging made with PCR

BALE SPECIFICATIONS

TABB™ secures supply through large waste haulers, independent haulers or recyclers, municipal or city run facilities and deposit material via brand owners.

Producing high-quality post-consumer recycled resin starts with receiving quality bales. Here you can find our bale specifications of all types, including curbside PET, natural HDPE, and mixed color HDPE.

Material Description:  PET bottles compiled from municipal curbside collection, sorted to remove undesirable material, and baled for efficient transportation and handling. A bottle is defined as a container that has a smaller opening than the circumference of the container.

Sortation Requirements (Prior to Baling):

  • Accept Criteria – Any transparent clear, green or blue colored PET bottles, SPI Code 1, such as carbonated beverage, water, sports drink, fruit juice, tea, etc., including labels and caps.
    • Bottles are to be no larger than 2.5 gallons or smaller than 5 oz. containers.
  • Reject Criteria – any non-bottle, PET or otherwise; any non-PET, bottle or otherwise, such as PVC (Code 3), HDPE (Code 2), PLA (Code 7), PP (Code 5), any bottle with biodegradable additives; any non-plastic such as glass, cans, ice, free-flowing liquids, metal, dirt and/or gravel, wood, any hazardous chemical containers, any medical waste such as syringes, personal hygiene materials.

Bale Requirements:

  • Bales must maintain integrity during transport and handling.
  • Bales cannot contain cardboard or plastic headers or be wrapped with plastic wrap.
  • Wire shall be non-rusting galvanized, ideally 10 gauge, and do not use banding as the primary method of containment.
  • Minimum dimensions: 36” x 36” x 40”.
  • Maximum dimensions: 36” x 48” x 72”.
  • Density shall be from 10-25 lb. /ft3.
  • Outdoor storage shall be covered, and shall not exceed 6 months, to avoid degradation due to exposure to sunlight, etc.
  • Bales cannot contain cross wires.
